Family Life
Devout Catholics, Dennis Sullivan and Katherine Shea were married in St. Peter's Church in Saratoga Springs in 1874.
The oldest boy, Eugene died in infancy. Daniel Eugene was born in 1878, Katherine Helen in 1880, Thomas Richard in 1883, and Frances John Joseph in 1892.
Dennis supported his family as a merchant. He is listed in City Directories as a grocer, a liquor merchant,a tavern owner, and a policeman. He lived to the age of 75. Katherine passed in 1926, at the age of 75, as well.
Both Daniel and Thomas appear to have somewhat followed in their father's footsteps-Thomas married and moved to Newark, NJ where he was in the restaurant business (given that this is at the start of Prohibition, one has to wonder what exactly "restaurant" may mean.) Daniel also married and he and his wife, Helen, lived in Albany NY where he listed his occupation in 1918 as a Retail Liquor dealer and in the 1920 census as the proprietor of a saloon. At one point in the early 20's he purchases what is now known as the Washington Tavern in Albany. Daniel died in 1923 and Thomas in 1947.
In 1935, Frank moved back to the "ancestral estate" and lived with his sister until her death.
