Title

A Finish at Saratoga

Subject

Horse racing

Description

These images depict the finish of a race at Saratoga Race Course. A large group of men, mostly in shirtsleeves and vests, line the fence watching the finish line closely. The finish line itself can be seen drawn in white on the track. Four horses are competing, all in tight and focused on the finish line. The track is lined with fencing to keep all safe. In the infield is a horse and buggy with driver. Another man stands off to the side. Barns on the backstretch can be seen in the distance. It is unknown what the purpose of the tall structure is. Several men are standing near it and a small, squat building. A young boy stands in the forefront, taking the whole scene in. Written in the border is: Popular Series; 588. "A Finish at Saratoga."
